cotj children 200x267Wednesday Night Lights

During the school year, children and youth—ages Kindergarten through Seniors in high school—meet on Wednesday evenings for food, fellowship, fun—and some study, too! From 5:45 p.m. – 7:45 p.m., Church on the Journey is a hopping place—

After some pre-meal fun, "Dinner is Served" at 6:00. Afterwards, everyone breaks off into their special groups for fellowship and study:

Primary Youth Fellowship (PYF): Grades K – 3
Junior Youth Fellowship (JYF): Grades 4 & 5
Chi Rho: Grades 6 – 8
Christian Youth Fellowship (CYF): Grades 9 – 12

We consider Wednesday Night Lights as a pivotal opportunity for our church to develop within our children/youth a strong faith foundation in Jesus Christ. Since our Sunday morning focus is entirely on Worship, you could say that Wednesday Night Lights serves as our unique version of Sunday School. We take this time with our kids very seriously!

Children's Church

Following the Children's Sermon during Sunday Worship, children ages 3 – 3rd grade are invited to our Children's Church space to enjoy a special worship activity designed just for them. When finished, they are joined back with their parents just in time for the Lord's Supper.

It is with a great sense of responsibility that we receive your precious little one(s) into our care. As a congregation we're committed to providing the best possible childcare available in a safe, sanitary and stimulating environment staffed by loving, nurturing and experienced caregivers! Now that's a mouthful, isn't it—but it's all true!

Crossing Borders Youth Events

Throughout the year, our Journey junior and senior high school kids join with youth from other local Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) congregations for special events—like broomball in Odessa, paintball in San Angelo, Rock the Desert and mission trips to name just a few. Remember, out here in West Texas "local" can range from down the street to 120 miles!

Lake Brownwood Christian Retreat

Lake Brownwood Christian Retreat (LBCR) is sacred ground. Journey is so grateful to have access to a place where our children and youth can get away; where worship, study, fellowship, prayer and mission blend together in such a way that connecting with our God through Jesus Christ is inescapable. Our CYF, Chi Rho and JYF attend weekend rallies per school year. When summer comes, there's a special camp experience for all ages. These are the kind of encounters that change lives! Check for more info and access to camp forms.
